Volunteer

As a non-proft organization, the Silver Sage relies heavily on volunteers to accomplish its mission.

There are numerous ways you can help. Volunteers are needed primarily between the hours of 8 AM and 4 PM Monday through Friday. Opportunities are available for you to work just a couple of hours once a week or more frequently.

Meals On Wheels drivers exchanage friendly greetings with one of our clients.

Our greatest need is for drivers and driver assistants for our Meals On Wheels program. We deliver meals Monday through Friday. We've divided Bandera County into 5 different delivery routes. The Silver Sage owns its own vehicles and we pay for gas. Allow two to three hours to complete your route. Drivers arrive at the Silver Sage about 10:15 AM.

Our Thrift Store on Highway 16 in Bandera relies entirely on volunteers. Store hours are 10 AM to 3 PM Monday through Saturday. However, if we do not have a volunteer on a given day, the store remains closed, so your service is very valuable to us. Proceeds from the Thrift Store go directly to our Meals On Wheels program.

Volunteers also help prepare meals in our kitchen, help at the front desk, and teach classes such as crafts or computer skills.
